Vegans vs Omnivores →
marisupial: Flavour doesn’t divert people from leading an omnivorous lifestyle, if there are two things that ultimately do, they are health and ethics. I have battled in the past with what the correct lifestyle is for me, but I’ve found flaws in both arguments and ultimate inevitabilities that have led me to… It’s been a hell of a year, guys. I apologize to my faithful followers...

So the holidays are coming,
and I’ll finally have some free time. That whole no-sleep-living-off-coffee-and-cigarettes stereotype given to architecture students really isn’t a stereotype, well, for me, maybe the cigarette part is, but I have been living off pumpkin pie and black coffee as of late, and getting as many as 3-5 hours of sleep every other day. And as you can guess, having barely any time to sleep...

Hi, followers!
I know I haven’t been actively posting, but lately my priorities have taken a slight turn. While I have always been focused on making the best of the present while planning for the future, lately something has come over me to make the best of every single, little passing moment in my life—from watching the city skyline on every train ride and appreciating it in every light, to making...

Feeling better C:
Tried to go cold turkey one night and beat my fever by the morning. Right now, though? I’ve been up and running, meeting deadlines by the skin of my teeth since 5 in the morning so my bed and I have a date, followed by some yogurt with berries, perhaps? Mmmm.

I've been strangely ill lately.
I don’t even know what it is; it’s not very definite. Every night, right around bed time I’ll develop this very mild fever that I lay to rest with an aspirin. I’ll also get acute pressure headaches and just feel overall very lethargic. It’s the strangest thing, because I haven’t been sick in…well…I don’t even know. Long enough! Can the change...

Boyfriend: So how is Almond milk made?
Me: It's basically just ground up almonds, strained through a cheese cloth. You can do this with any nut, actually.
Boyfriend: But is it vegan-friendly?
Me: Yep, it's just the nuts and water, essentially.
Boyfriend: But what about the cheeeeesecloth?

Apples, apples everywhere
My parents like taking mini road trips on the occasional free weekend, and yesterday just so happened to be one of those times. They took me with them to Howe Caverns in upstate NY, where we got a tour of the caves, streams and the rock formations some 200ft underground. It was pretty neat. After, we went apple picking at a local orchard. You’re required to buy a $15 bag to fill to your...

chasing-equilibrium asked: After a good hour of stalking your blog, I felt I owed you a quick note to say exactly how awesome your blog is (and you too for that matter!). Your progress is amazing, you write incredibly well, and you are seem to be so in tune with your body. Your reflections and advice are genuinely inspiring. You truly seem to have found that elusive thing called a healthy AND balanced lifestyle. Best wishes...

Spinach forever
There’s been a container full of cooked spinach sitting in the fridge for days, and I have to keep coming up with new ways to incorporate it into my food before it goes bad. I just had a mushroom and spinach omelet with salsa for dinner. It was unexpectedly delicious, though. On a more, irrelevant note? Allow the screenshot to speak for itself: Please enlighten me?

Happy birthday, fitblr!
I activated this account on October 5th 2010, after having embarked on what I hoped would be my last attempt to lose weight and stay healthy. On a typical health kick, I would normally lose enough weight to make a significant difference, and end up gaining it all back, and more, by the following year. Even though I haven’t been my most determined since school started this fall, and have...

Although it didn't go exactly as planned. The...
We didn’t get to do what we initially planned (with all the people we initially made plans with), but we ended up walking around during what was a relatively pleasant night, and grabbed some local grub. I, myself, still ended up getting a rare fish meal, and just over 2 pints of beer courtesy of a friend (will not be of legal drinking age for over 6 months), haha. Andrew, if you’re...

Back in my groove~
To put it simply, it feels right. I was thinking that I haven’t documented a day’s eating in a long time. Would anyone care to see me partake in GPOYFW (gratuitous picture of your food Wednesday)? I can document a healthy day’s eats in picture form. Takes?

Lately I've been inspired
by a classmate of mine. I go to a public college, so there’re a lot of returning adults. Long story short, this lady appears to be in her early 40’s, if at all. She has 4 children ages 3 to 16, goes to school full time (taking every subject by the curriculum under my major), and let me tell you, I chose not to take my maths and sciences at the same time as my technologies and studio...

This is infinitely more difficult than I expected
Keeping track of my intake when I don’t know what it is that I’m eating. It’s hard. I’m definitely not accustomed to it, and it gets somewhat out of hand. I can’t really distinguish indulgence and outright gluttony, and I think I need to figure out a more definitive plan. In the meantime, I think I’ll be sticking to my usual eating habits, as soon as we stock up...

I apologize for the brief hiatus.
But easing back into the whole school routine is taking up a lot of my time. Exercise time included. But! I have been trying my hardest to make good food selections in the meantime. I’ve reached a point where I’ve become tired of keeping track of every calorie and nutrient, so I’m using my best judgment to eat reasonably. For instance, while in the past I’d’ve...

aksjfhkdfhkajdhfajldjkal! :D
I haven’t been so genuinely happy for anything the way I am for the news I just received. My boyfriend and I had been discussing options for loans so he could go to his art school of choice this semester, and while all signs pointed towards him having to take another semester off from school, he just finally gave me the news that he got accepted for a loan! It might not sound like much, but...

Overabundance of endorphins even while at rest
So as most of you may know, September marks the beginning of the fall and welcomes the new school year for most of us in the North Western hemisphere, and thus far I don’t think I’ve been as enthusiastic about school as I currently am. I’m pretty much only taking courses relevant to my major. I already have assignments and I’m excited get started on them and start buying...

I did a re-evaluation of what I commonly eat.
and it’s no wonder I’m famished by the end of the week. I didn’t think to count carbs, because I assumed, “the less the better” and figured, “I highly doubt I’m under-consuming carbs,” but apparently I’ve been barely getting 50g. That’s daily. I think I need to start eating lentils regularly. I’ve missed them. And I’m...

So I've been stuck in kind of a rut.
My plan to maintain by eating almost entirely cleanly and working out consistently for a week, then giving myself a 3-day break before starting over again, isn’t really working for me anymore. By the time the week of clean eating and exercising is up, I feel so deprived that I anxiously anticipate my 3-day break. Which leads me to the next thing, I can’t seem to shorten that 3-day...
